We offer an end to end product development service, with a particular focus on sampling and small production runs. As a fashion-led studio we aim to deliver ethically and beautifully made garments that show the value and craftmanship of Made in UK.
Pattern & Toile Development
Pattern:
The design is translated from detailed sketch to garment by drafting a pattern—a blueprint outlining the precise shapes and dimensions of each piece. This guides fabric cutting and accounts for fit, fabric type and trims. We pattern cut both digitally and by hand.
Toile:
A toile (test version) is sewn in either the chosen or substitute fabric (e.g., calico) to assess fit, construction and finishing techniques.
Fitting & Feedback:
After receiving your toile, you should conduct a fitting to identify any adjustments needed, such as measurements or alternative finishes. Feedback is shared via our post development consult call on video or in-person studio visit and the next phase of development planned.
For established brands we can work from any pattern archives you have to re-sample or re-develop designs.
Sample Development
Pattern Adjustments & Sample:
Following the feedback we adjust the pattern accordingly and create a sample in your chosen fabric. Additional tweaks may be needed as we refine the handling of the material with regular updates for quick approvals. Once the sample is complete, we’ll provide an estimated production cost.
Refinement & Final Samples:
Seeing your design in the final fabric is an exciting step. You'll do another fitting and provide feedback for further refinements. The development process typically involves 1 toile and 2 samples to perfect the design before production.
Production
From the approved sample - also known as sign off - we'll discuss and confirm the production order qty, size breakdown and timeline. We'll then digitally grade the approved sample pattern to the chosen size range.
It's then time for bulk fabric or trims to be ordered - either by you or us depending on the prior arrangement/sourcing.
Production will then take place and you'll have beautifully and ethically made designs hanging on our studio rails.
